Candidates seeking admission to the first semester of the eight semesters B.E. / B.Tech. degree programmes should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of (10 +2) Curriculum (Academic Stream) prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as three of the four subjects of study under Part-III or any examination of any other University or authority accepted by the Syndicate of Anna University as equivalent thereto.
Should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of Vocational stream (Vocational groups in Engineering / Technology) as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Lateral Entry Admission
The candidates who possess the Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamilnadu or its equivalent are eligible to apply for admission to the third semester of B.E. / B.Tech. in the branch corresponding to the branch of study.
The candidates who possess the Degree in Science (B.Sc.,) (10+2+3 stream) with Mathematics as a subject at the B.Sc. Level are eligible to apply for admission to the third semester of B.E. / B.Tech programmes.
Such candidates shall undergo two additional Engineering subject(s) in the third and fourth semester or fourth and six semesters respectively as prescribed by the respective Faculty.
Entrance Test/Admission Criteria
The System Of Conduct Of Entrance Test for admission Purposes has been abolished.
Allocation of Seats to Government Quota and Management Quota
This being a Minority Institute 50% of the total seats (sanctioned intake) is allocated for Govt.Quota and the remaining 50% for management quota
a) Admission under Govt.Quota
The admitting agency on behalf of the Govt. of Tamil nadu is "Tamil nadu Engineering Admission" committee headed by the Secretary of the Anna University Chennai. The eligible in XII standard exam and the rank list is published. Then through single window counseling the students are selected for admission and allotted to the various Engineering Colleges following the communal rotation as per their option and availability.
b) Admission under Management Quota :
A rank list of the eligible applicants is prepared by the agency approved by the Govt. of Tamil nadu (viz) "Consortium of Self-financing, Professional, Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil nadu".Based on the ranking,candidates are admitted to the various Engineering Colleges taking into consideration the order of merit and option of the candidates.
