NSS Activities

Tree Plantation

Bethlahem Institute of Engineering successfully hosted a Tree Plantation event on September 8, 2023, as part of the National Service Scheme. Volunteers were encouraged to think creatively about societal change. Students participated enthusiastically and recognized the immediate and lasting benefits of tree planting for themselves, their community and the environment.

National Yoga Day

A yoga program was conducted on June 21, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. to educate students on physical movements, breathing exercises and meditation for better health. Mrs. Mini Mol, the Physical Directress, guided students in enhancing their well-being and managing their lives effectively.

National Constitution Day

The National Service Scheme (NSS) celebrated National Constitution Day on November 27, 2023. The event commenced with a prayer by Mr. Moses C. Thurai and the Principal delivered the felicitation address. Chief Guest Dr. D. Gladies, who spoke about the Indian Constitution, citizens' fundamental rights and the collective responsibility for national development. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by third-year Civil Engineering student Mr. Ashish Ronsy Mathew.

National Pollution Control Day - Awareness Cycle Rally

The first and second-year students, along with staff, gathered at the college entrance for a cycle rally organized by the NSS unit of BIoE on December 2, 2023, to raise awareness about pollution control. Dr. C. Emmy Prema, the Principal, inaugurated the event, where participants displayed placards and banners promoting environmental protection. The rally highlighted sustainable transportation and the importance of individual actions in reducing carbon footprints.

World Human Rights Day

World Human Rights Day was observed on December 11, 2023. The event began with a welcome address by Mr. D. Ginu, Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering. Guest speaker Ms. S. Mary Stella emphasized the importance of individual and collective efforts in protecting human rights worldwide. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by A. Abin.

National Youth Day Celebration - 2024

The National Youth Day Celebration was held on January 12, 2024, with around 69 students in attendance. The event began with a welcome note from Student Coordinator Ms. K.R. Katelyn. Ms. A.K. Kowsalya Devi introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. Jose, who delivered an inspiring talk on youth empowerment and social responsibility. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. S. A. Babisha and encouraged students to embrace leadership.

Blood Donation Camp

The NSS unit of BIoE, in collaboration with the IIC and Thuckalay Government Hospital, organized a blood donation camp on April 15, 2024. Faculty, staff and students actively participated in the event. Refreshments were provided to all donors, and a total of 150 units of blood were collected. This initiative not only highlighted the importance of blood donation but also strengthened community ties and emphasized the institution’s commitment to healthcare support and social responsibility.

Drug Awareness Rally

Bethlahem Institute of Engineering organized a rally to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle. First and second-year NSS students actively participated, carrying anti-drug placards and spreading their message throughout the campus and surrounding community. The event aimed to educate peers about the risks associated with drug use and encourage healthy, positive choices. The rally raised a sense of solidarity and commitment to create a safer, drug-free environment for all.

National Engineer's Day Celebration

The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) celebrated National Engineer’s Day on September 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with approximately 71 students in attendance. The program commenced with a warm welcome address from Mr. J. Gershom Thomas, followed by an insightful address by the Principal, Dr. Emmy Prema. Mr. Moses Joji Mathew introduced the Chief Guest, who inspired the students by discussing the vital role of youth in shaping the future. The session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mr. Gerrson G N, leaving participants motivated and eager to contribute to engineering and innovation.

Swachhata Ki Seva 2024

Bethlahem Institute of Engineering organized a beach cleaning campaign on October 2, 2024, as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan mission. Students and volunteers came together to collect 20 to 25 bags of waste, which were then handed over to the sanitation workers of Karungal Municipality. This initiative not only demonstrated the effectiveness of collective action in tackling environmental issues but also highlighted the institute's dedication to sustainability and community service.

“HIV/AIDS Prevention and blood safety

On 01th December 2023, Bethlahem Institute of Engineering successfully completed the event of Quiz Competition on the topic of “HIV/AIDS prevention and blood safety under the National Service Scheme in seminar hall. The Quiz Competition on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Blood Safety was an enlightening and engaging event, delving into crucial aspects of health awareness. Participants showcased a commendable grasp of the topic, highlighting preventive measures against HIV/AIDS transmission and emphasizing the significance of blood safety.

Career guidance on Enhancing Employability Skills Training

Bethlahem Institute of Engineering organized a “Drug Awareness” in association with NSS. Ms.Sugirtha ,Operations head ,Feathers Software was the resource person. She has highlighted the present need of corporate talent and skills which can help the students in equipping themselves with the ability required to compete in the profession. This lecture covered all the points required for the student to increase his/her moral and develop its skill so that he/she can tackle obstacles during their career.

"Drug Awareness" Program

In collaboration with NSS, Bethlahem Institute of Engineering held a "Drug Awareness" event. The institute ran a campaign under NSS to raise awareness about drugs. As the main speaker, Mr. Sathish from the Wisdom Foundation was invited to raise awareness of the harmful effects of drug and alcohol use in a thorough way. In his inspirational address, Mr. Sathish revealed that drug usage leads to ten suicides in India per day. Additionally, he mentioned that a central government survey showed that the great majority of young people are exposed to drug and alcohol prevention messages through media including radio, TV, posters, and pamphlets, as well as through movie commercials and similar campaigns. Also, the report's particular research revealed that those who have encountered these kinds of communications are much less prone to take drugs.
